Talavera is a type of fine Mexican earthenware featuring coloured decoration on an opaque white glaze. The saturated designs have always fascinated me and find them absolutely elegant. I don't use toy Talavera set often, so when my husband told me some of his partners were coming for dinner, I had to take them out and build a fancy table around them.
I paired them with my Gallica tablecloth. I found that the contrast of colourful and over-ornate plates paired well with the simple and neutral design of my tablecloth. Take a look at the result:
In the end I was so glad I ended up using one of my tablecloths. One of the guests accidentally knocked down a glass of wine and you can imagine the mess it created. Alas, I remained calm, cool and collected because I knew it was not a big deal anymore! Guests were impressed :)
